The November tournament venue is Fukuoka Kokusai Center, at 2-2 Chikko-honmachi, Hakata-ku. There is no visitor parking, so plan to use public transport from Hakata Station or Tenjin.

From Hakata Station, the Association’s access page directs visitors to the F bus stop in front of the Fukuoka Center Building. Bus 88 serves Kokusai Kaigijo/Sun Palace-mae; bus 99 serves Kokusai Center/Sun Palace-mae.

From Tenjin, the listed starting point is stop 2A in front of Solaria Stage. Bus 80 serves Kokusai Center/Sun Palace-mae; route 90 serves Hakata Futo Iriguchi; route 25 serves Hakata Futo Iriguchi or Ishijo-machi.

Japanese stop names may appear differently across maps and romanisation systems. Save the Japanese venue name—福岡国際センター—and show it to staff if needed.

Plan the return before the arrival

After the final bout, many spectators move at once. When you arrive, identify the stop and direction you will need on the way back. Returning to Hakata Station and travelling toward Tenjin are different queues and itineraries.

Do not treat a bus time quoted in an old article as a guarantee. Traffic around the venue changes journey times. Use the current transport operator timetable on the day, and prioritise any official temporary-service notice issued for the tournament.

Where should an international visitor stay?

Hakata Station is practical for Shinkansen, airport and onward rail connections. Tenjin may suit visitors who prioritise central dining and city travel. Neither area is universally “best.” Compare total travel time, the morning after sumo and cancellation terms.

Hotel recommendations on this site will never be ranked by commission. Prices and vacancy will link to live booking information rather than being frozen in an article.

What about a suitcase?

Do not assume the arena can store a large case. Check your hotel’s or station locker’s current size and operating conditions, and take a smaller arena bag. We will not promise cloakroom capacity until it is verified from an official current source.

Routes and stops can change, so recheck the Association and operator information immediately before the tournament.

If the bus plan stops working

If you cannot find the listed stop, the queue is full or a service is disrupted, do not board from the route number alone and hope that the direction is correct. Stay at a staffed stop or station area, show 福岡国際センター, and ask staff to confirm the current service, boarding point and direction. The fallback may be waiting for another confirmed bus, using a route the operator identifies, or taking a taxi after checking its pickup point and live conditions; this article cannot know which will be faster on your date.

If the return crowd separates your group, use the meeting point chosen on arrival rather than moving between queues. If a firm flight or Shinkansen is at risk, leave the final bout earlier according to a pre-agreed threshold instead of assuming that one transport mode will rescue an impossible connection.

Non-map return-first flow for Fukuoka Kokusai Center with live bus unknowns and alternate-mode or timing fallback
FACT: the Association publishes November-tournament access guidance. UNKNOWN: post-bout service, queues and boarding. FALLBACK: recheck current information and choose a confirmed mode or timing. The loop is not a road; checked 4 September 2026.
Detailed description of this diagram

The FACT card has departure, venue and return tokens plus a dashed return loop only to say that both directions need planning; it is no bus or street route. The long UNKNOWN block reserves live operation, queueing, capacity and post-bout boarding. FALLBACK branches after a stop token to current official/staff confirmation and then an alternate confirmed mode or time. No stop, distance, frequency, last service, walking path, crowd flow, fare, duration or guaranteed boarding is shown.

Evidence limits and event-day fallback

Confirmed fact: The Association’s November access page gives the Kokusai Center address and ordinary bus candidates from Hakata/Tenjin. It does not guarantee boarding or arrival on the travel date.

What remains unknown: Stop, route, extra service, disruption, queue, crowding, road time, accessible vehicle, luggage, arena entrance and return are live conditions. Arena storage and dimensions are also unconfirmed.

Reasoned inference: Choosing the return direction/stop before arrival is likely to reduce confusion compared with searching in the post-sumo crowd. Confidence is medium; it guarantees neither boarding nor time.

Editorial suggestion: Keep the venue, direction, hotel-side stop and group meeting point as showable text, and solve large luggage at confirmed hotel/station storage. This is not official transport instruction.

Fallback: If the stop is unclear, the bus is full, disrupted or rerouted, do not board by number alone. Show staff the venue and compare a confirmed next bus, operator alternative, verified suitable car, earlier exit or reduced trip.
