March 2026: 12–3. May: 12–3. July: 12–3. Kirishima’s record repeats across an important change of rank—from Sekiwake back to Ozeki.

A return, then two more strong tournaments

The three regulation records total 36–9. July includes a default win over Hoshoryu on Day 14, followed by a final-day win over Kotozakura. Kirishima also beat Onosato, while losing to Hiradoumi, Churanoumi and Aonishiki. Keeping those losses beside the celebrated wins gives me specific rematches to anticipate.

Watch the other hand

His preferred stance is left-hand-inside belt wrestling. That puts his right hand outside, where it can seek an overarm belt grip. Recent winning finishes include force-outs, 23%, push-outs, 17%, and overarm throws, 9%; the display lists 64 wins, including one default.

So “left-hand inside” is only the beginning. Does the right hand secure the belt? Does he keep the opponent close or change their direction? The other hand turns a static profile label into an unfolding contest.

The earlier name belongs to the same person

Kirishima previously competed as Kiribayama. He debuted in May 2015, reached the top division in January 2020 and first became Ozeki in July 2023. His questionnaire says he started sumo at 18. He represents Otowayama stable, comes from Dornod, Mongolia, and lists gaming, strength training and Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi’s music among his interests.
