September 2026 profile. Ranks, measurements and the six-tournament breakdown below reflect the Japanese article’s source check on 11 September 2026.

Nine wins, ten wins, eleven wins. Put Kotoeiho’s March, May and July 2026 records in a row and they rise neatly one at a time, while his rank rises too. September brought a career-high West Maegashira 1. Looking ahead from those steps, I wanted to know what the next fifteen days would look like.
July’s eleven wins were not a straight climb
He lost on opening day, then won nine in a row from Days 2 to 10. Three losses followed, before wins on Day 14 and the final day took him to 11–4 and a Fighting Spirit Prize. The final total hides those changes of pace. His last two opponents were Asanoyama and Takerufuji. I want to remember the two days when he stopped the losing run too.
Force-outs account for 38%, but not every bout is a belt contest
The Association’s six-tournament breakdown lists yorikiri, a force-out, at 38%; oshidashi, a push-out, at 17%; and yoritaoshi, a frontal crush-out, at 11%. His listed strengths are a right-hand-inside grip and forward driving, but some wins end with a push. Does he get the right arm inside, or does an opponent deny the grip and leave him pushing instead? That is the difference I want to follow. A winning technique describes the finish; 38% cannot explain everything before it.
An ozeki opponent from the first day
The announced schedule put him against Aonishiki on September 13, opening day, and Fujinokawa on Day 2. After that steady rise in wins came a pair of opponents high on the banzuke. Rather than extend the number sequence and expect twelve wins, I want to see how often he can create the position he likes. Away from the ring, his official questionnaire lists visiting public baths as a hobby. I would like to hear about those too, but these first two bouts caught my attention.
