Fujiseiun favours a right-hand-inside grip and force-outs. Nishikifuji, his announced September opening-day opponent, favours a left-hand-inside grip and force-outs. Both might be described as wrestlers who take the belt and drive forward, but they do not want the same position. Put their profiles side by side, and the arms just after the initial charge become interesting.

Watching for a force-out before the belt is taken

The Association’s six-tournament breakdown lists yorikiri, a force-out, at 40%; oshidashi, a frontal push-out, at 21%; and okuridashi, a rear push-out, at 8%. His listed strength and most common finish match, but roughly a fifth of those wins are push-outs. Can he keep moving forward without getting his right arm inside? Does his opponent turn after he secures a grip? I want to follow more than the moment he reaches his preferred position.

Three tournaments into his Makuuchi career

He made his professional debut in March 2021, his Juryo debut in May 2023 and his Makuuchi debut in March 2026. July ended 7–8 at West Maegashira 6, followed by East Maegashira 7 for September. The “past six tournaments” also include tournaments before his top-division promotion, so I do not read those percentages as Makuuchi-only figures. One Makushita championship, two Sandanme championships and one Jonokuchi championship are also part of the path to this point.

Keisuke Kuwata and Tokyo 03

His official questionnaire lists Keisuke Kuwata for music, the comedy trio Tokyo 03 under programmes and YouTube, and One Piece among his favourite works. The short answers reveal tastes that a pairing sheet cannot. His name is pronounced Fujiseiun. Ichiyamamoto was announced as his September Day 2 opponent.
