A sold-out notice does not necessarily close every route to January sumo. On October 15, the Japan Sumo Association's group-booking page stated that its allocation was sold out and applications had ended. That scheme is for groups of at least 20 attending on the same day in the same seating category. It does not mean general ticket sales for the tournament have already ended.
The dedicated general-ticket page asks readers to await full details and lists December 5, 2026, as the advance-sale date. The 2027 annual calendar gives the same date. The tournament is scheduled for January 10–24 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan.
There is a discrepancy: the group page also contains text referring to December 6. We have not established why the wording differs or when group bookings closed.
For now, save the general-ticket page and decide which dates and how many seats you need. Recheck the sale date, start time and ticket options before purchasing.
