Toshinofuji’s 195cm height is the first number I noticed. His three Juryo records supplied another: 30 wins.

Three winning tournaments, at rising ranks

His Juryo debut in March 2026 produced 10–5 at rank 11. May brought 9–6 at rank 7, then July 11–4 at rank 4. The combined regulation record is 30–15. July also included a win over fellow September debutant Asasuiryu.

Follow the direction after the grip

His recent six-tournament display leads with force-outs, 36%, then push-outs, 11%, and pulling overarm throws, 9%. Its 45 wins also include Makushita, a different sample from the 30 Juryo wins.

The pulling overarm throw uses the outside belt grip to draw the opponent forward while opening the body. After he gets a left overarm grip, do they advance together, or does the opponent get pulled past him? That movement makes the height more meaningful.

The Isegahama wrestler also names NBA knowledge as his No.1 quality and supports the Sacramento Kings. Read his fuller introduction.
