Two brothers in the top division are an easy introduction. Their winning finishes give us a better reason to follow both.
The leading finish is different
Older brother Asakoryu’s six-tournament display lists 44 wins: push-outs, 43%; underarm throws, 14%; and thrust-downs, 9%. Younger brother Asasuiryu’s 53 wins lead with force-outs, 45%, followed by push-outs, 21%, and under-shoulder swing-downs, 8%.
A push-out works without taking the belt; a force-out works in close contact. Both move an opponent out, but the distance is different. That is something specific to compare when watching the two.
The samples have different opposition: the younger brother’s six tournaments were in Juryo. These percentages do not rank their strength. September 2026 is the first time both will collect results in Makuuchi.
Two questionnaires, too
Asakoryu names Baki and weight training; Asasuiryu names Berserk, public-bath visits and Sakanaction. Both represent Takasago stable and become the 14th pair of top-division brothers.
