Choosing what to wear can be a small part of looking forward to sumo. The September tournament lists wasou, or Japanese-attire, days on September 14 and 21, 2026. Here is a planning note checked on September 9, rather than a report of attending.

Two activities, two places

Gift collection is at the second-floor information desk from opening until 16:00; have your admission ticket ready for a stamp. The gyoji photo event is scheduled for 13:30 at the entrance. Bring your own camera or phone. The photo activity is free, but that does not mean tournament admission is free. Check qualifying attire and changes in the Association’s official wasou-day guidance.

Do not decide eligibility from a pattern alone

A Japanese-looking print is not enough to establish that an outfit qualifies. Look at the organiser’s examples before treating the benefit as part of your plan. If an outfit is ambiguous, do not assume eligibility. The programme and gifts may change.

Pack by what you will need to retrieve

Our practical suggestion is to keep your ticket and camera accessible without unpacking a large bag. Think about where a light layer or small towel will go once you sit down. A special outfit is easier to enjoy when finding your belongings does not become a separate task. This is packing advice, not a description of services promised at the venue.

Leave space for the bouts

Instead of trying to fit every activity into the day, leave room to return to your seat. You can choose one activity and still have a satisfying visit. Comfort comes first; there is no need to choose an outfit that makes the day difficult merely to join a promotion. Recheck the official page before departure.
