September 2026 profile. Ranks, measurements, announced pairings and the six-tournament breakdown below reflect the Japanese article’s source check on 11 September 2026.

Kinbozan’s listed strengths are thrusting and pushing. Yet in the Association’s preceding-six-tournament breakdown, his most common finish is yorikiri, a force-out, at 34%. Even after I remember him as a big pushing wrestler, there is more to read once he and his opponent come together.
Overarm throws and slap-downs: 14% each
Next after yorikiri are uwatenage, an overarm throw, and hatakikomi, a slap-down, both at 14%. A win that turns an opponent sits alongside a win that brings one down. Does his pushing momentum continue after he takes the belt, or do his feet stop as the direction changes? Rather than simply looking at his height of 194 cm, I want to see how the opponent approaches that height.
A meeting with Oho to open September
He went 9–6 at East Maegashira 14 in July and rose to West Maegashira 10 for September, with Oho announced as his opening-day opponent. Their official heights were 194 cm and 192 cm. Would they push high against each other, or would one close the gap first? Similar builds and listed strengths need not produce identical sumo, which is what made the pairing interesting to me.
Starting at nineteen, and “so-so”
His official questionnaire says he began sumo at nineteen, enjoys saunas and likes the Fast & Furious films. His favourite phrase, roughly “so-so,” made me pause in a profile otherwise full of numbers. He made his professional debut in November 2021, his Juryo debut in September 2022 and his Makuuchi debut in March 2023. His record includes one Juryo championship and two Fighting Spirit Prizes.
