Profile snapshot: 11 September 2026. Ranks, measurements and the six-tournament technique figures below are those recorded for this September guide.

I opened Midorifuji’s profile with katasukashi, the under-shoulder swing-down, in mind. Yet his most frequent winning technique over the six tournaments was yorikiri at 25%, followed by oshidashi and katasukashi at 14% each. A win can still look like his sumo on a day when the familiar signature technique does not appear.
After getting underneath the opponent’s arms
His official measurements are 174 cm and 116 kg. When he moves underneath an opponent’s arms, does the opponent lean into him or draw the hips back to create space? I watch that response to see whether a route forward remains or the contest turns toward breaking balance. There is more to notice in the resistance between them than when I was simply waiting for the final word katasukashi.
Takerufuji appears twice in the questionnaire
Takerufuji appears twice in his official questionnaire: under hobbies and current interests, and under athletes he supports. Those answers show his interest in his stablemate. He finished July 8–7 at east juryo 8 and was east juryo 7 for September. He debuted as Ihara in September 2016 and first entered makuuchi in January 2021.
