A fictional miniature arrangement of a baseball and a small dohyo, inspired by Sadanoumi’s interest in watching baseball.

When I open Sadanoumi’s Association profile, more than half of the wins are force-outs: 53% in the six-tournament display. Beyond his age of 39 and his long career, knowing how he was winning makes me look forward to the moment the wrestlers come together.

Can he keep the opponent close and carry him forward?

His listed strengths are a right-hand-inside grip and force-out sumo. Oshidashi, a push-out, at 13%, and uwatenage, an overarm throw, at 6%, also appear among his wins. If the opponent draws his hips away after the belt grip, Sadanoumi’s arm may still reach while the bodies move apart. Can his feet close that distance? Can he advance before the other wrestler resets? I want to watch the grip and the feet together, right up to the step outside the ring.

More than eleven years to makuuchi

His professional debut was March 2003, his juryo debut July 2010, and his makuuchi debut May 2014. His highest rank was maegashira 1. He went 5–10 at west juryo 2 in July and was east juryo 5 for September, with Mitakeumi scheduled for the opening day. His official questionnaire lists watching baseball, the Tokyo Yakult Swallows and Tasogare Ryuseigun. I would like to talk with people who have followed him for years about things beyond sumo too.
