September 26, 2026 / September tournament, Day 14 — historical results and background. Records on this page are after Day 14, not final tournament records.
The September 2026 tournament ended on Sunday, September 27. This archived guide records its scheduled ring-entrance time and explains why a ceremony time is different from a bout start time.

Makuuchi ring entrance: around 15:15 JST
The Japan Sumo Association’s timetable listed the September 27 Makuuchi ring entrance at approximately 15:15 JST, 25 minutes earlier than Day 14’s 15:40 guide time. Doors were scheduled to open at 10:00 JST. These are archived scheduled times, not a report of the actual minute each event began.
Ring entrance does not mean the start of the bouts
15:15 refers to the Makuuchi dohyo-iri, the ceremony in which the wrestlers appear in their kesho-mawashi. It is not an announced start time for Makuuchi competition. If you want to see the ceremony from the beginning, allow time to finish a meal or reach your seat beforehand.
Our tournament-day guide follows the sequence from ring entrances through the bouts and the bow-twirling ceremony. It is a useful companion when the names of the different parts of the day are still unfamiliar.
