Sumo and everyday life.

Tamagoyaki for lunch.

An illustration of a lunch table with tamagoyaki, a bowl of rice, a glass and a partly read book, seen from the diner's point of view.

I’m staying in today.

This week, I’ve been sleepy by the time I finish work, so I haven’t got any further with my book. I woke up once this morning, looked at the clock, and went back to sleep.

When I got up and opened the fridge, there were two eggs. I made tamagoyaki, a Japanese rolled omelette, for lunch. I often put it in a packed lunch, so it had been a while since I’d eaten it freshly cooked. I ate one of the end pieces in the kitchen after cutting it.

Mum had sent me a message: “When are you coming home next?” I told her I hadn’t decided yet. “Let me know before you come. I’ll make you something.” She always sends me away with all sorts of things, so I think I’ll clear a little space in the freezer.

And I’ve decided to try keeping a diary.
I’m calling it “Sumo and everyday life.”

Meals, outings, that sort of thing. I’d like to write now and then about things that have nothing to do with my sumo research, too.

I’m going to watch some sumo later today. It would be nice to get a little further with my book, too.
