Kagayaki was east juryo 11 for September, with newly promoted Tanji scheduled as his opening-day opponent. One wrestler entered makuuchi in January 2016; the other was about to begin his first fifteen days as a salaried wrestler. Knowing those two paths makes me more interested in their first bout when I return to the schedule.
Wins from sustained pushing, and wins that bring the opponent down
The Association’s six-tournament figures show oshidashi at 41%, tsukiotoshi at 18% and hikiotoshi at 12%. From his height of 192 cm, where does he direct the push, and how does he respond when an opponent comes in low? After the first push stops, is there room to move forward again? I want the high oshidashi share to be a reason to watch his feet as well.
BLUE GIANT and the occasional dive
He finished July 7–8 at east juryo 11 and held the same rank for September. His official questionnaire lists occasional diving as a hobby, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and BLUE GIANT among his favourite works. He is from Nanao, Ishikawa, and previously wrestled as Tatsu. That name is another way into the record stretching back to March 2010.
