RESEARCH NOTE

I like mine crisp.

Diary #007 | Thursday evening, October 8, 2026 | Shiori

I peeled a persimmon after dinner.

The soft ones are lovely too, but I like mine while it’s still firm. That little crunch on the first bite.

I meant to cut thin slices, but the last two came out a little thicker. They looked as though they’d have a good crunch, too.

Persimmon slices and tea on a wooden table after dinner, with a fork to the right.

I made some tea and started with a thick slice.

Mm. Just how I like it.

Before I’d finished, I opened my phone and came across a story about Aonishiki. At the words “the morning of Day 7,” I paused.

Hang on. Where did I put my notes from that day?

But there were still two slices to eat first. I picked my fork back up.
